Welcome!

Happy New Year Patriots!

I hope everyone is well rested and ready to jump back in!  We'll be having our first meeting of the new year in just two weeks.  We have LOTS to discuss, and we'll be hearing from candidates in two very important state-wide races.  Justice Paul Newby is running for re-election on the NC Supreme Court and will be giving us an update on his election and some thoughts about why it is so crucial that we maintain a majority in the courts.  And Dan Forest is a candidate running for Lt. Governor and he will be sharing some insight from the campaign trail and the battle that lies ahead for NC.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our new officers!  For those of you who were unable to make it to our November meeting and Merry Christmas Party, Southern Wake will begin a 2012 with new leaders beginning with our January meeting!  Many of you already know our new President, Ed Bartoszewski, and will enjoy getting to know other energetic and committed Republicans which will help lead and organize our club in 2012.  Congratulations!

As Republicans, we believe:

“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.”
